October the 9th is the election day of Local Authorities’ Institution. Both the citizens and the candidates actively prepare to the Local Authorities Institution’s elections. Its worth to mention that each citizen of 18 years old is aware of his /her electoral law and we hope that October the 9th, from 9 AM to 20:00 PM, they will go and realize their civic duty. 24 electoral areas are formed where the elections should pass. Republic of Armenian’s low demand the following concerning to the “Local Authorities”, for being elected a leader of the community, it’s necessary:
On the 9th of October, the elections of the institutions of local authorities will be held in Abovyan city. For this occasion we had a talk with the nowadays mayor K. Israelyan, and it turned out that he is the only candidate till now. Why there aren’t the other candidates, the mayor explained in this way:
-I must be vulnerable in order to face to the others, and if a close person does it, so I’m sure the majority of the people is with me. I’ll give promises only after the elections and I can’t tolerate any kind of infringement. For introducing my citizens about my activities, as an issue I state that the next publishing of the journal “Government” is totally dedicated to the activities of the municipality and the city’s local life. As well we are casting a special film about our city which will be shown in USA to the Armenian Diaspora for bringing them up-to-date.

Dear Ms. Kroyan, the successive academic year begins and... Wouldn’t you like to continue the idea that is the motive of the nation’s and state’s eternal existence.
The successive...? For me, as usual, it’s just first and the same feeling and emotions...for so many years. Even I can’t count that wheat grains which became bread i.e. spiritual nourishment, existence’s protector.Each 1st of September takes me to my bumper-crop garden in a new way, and so begins the dignity class of September the 1st which lasts up to 1st of May i.e. The Mashtots Day.
In my opinion serving to school is some kind of patriotism. This is not a simple job, but a real service. Today’s work in school is for the benefit of Armenian’s future. They are the same thing. Definitely, like it works for future and with future. Tomorrow’s lights are on today thus determining existence, our nation’s shape.
Almost becoming a tradition, the recurrent festive exaltation burst in square of the Abovyan municipality.This time it was dedicated to the academic year.
New academic year’s mysterious fest devoted to the dreamy youngsters accompanied with grown-ups and the ones who are crazy about the dance and song carried out with the efforts of the mayor K. Israelyan and the famous beneficial Gagik Tsarukyan.
Civilization in the process of development and cultivation reverberates to environmental beauty. People tend to embellish their environment in a course of certain spiritual progress.
Seeing the treatment of European nations towards the surroundings, taking into consideration the achievement of this civilization in the sphere of infrastructural formation, an enviable feeling covers each person at least to imitate them in order to put in good order our surroundings as well.
The community and humane charity program of the CounterpartInternational American Humane organization in 2005 disposed a humane relief to the Abovyan Women association and they distributed that assistance in following way: socially unprovided families, subsidiary school and Senior Citizens Home. This association gives its gratitude to CounterpartInternational organization and thanks to its humane relief manybeneficiaries got humanitarian aid.
Today we’ll drop hint about the Abovyan “Narek” Senior Citizens Home.
Recently Abovyan.com discovered another talented artist living in Abovyan. Master Mels works with wood or as he says, gives life to wood by curving it since 1978. We visited him and were so much impressed seeing so beautiful jewelry boxes, plates, crosses and much more.
- How did you start working with wood?
- Earlier I used to paint and also created some pictures by using the colorful stones I picked from my village river. In fact, one of them got award from Soviet House of National Artists in Moscow after being exhibited there. Something about wood attracted me, I am not sure what. I just liked it. And the way I learned working with it is mainly through self-education.
