The aircraft modeling is a technical sport . It has been developed in past centuries. And since the second half of the 20th century Armenian aircraft modeling has established various records of the world. The Armenian pilots have always been striking and amazing the others with their skills.
It has already become a tradition to organize the air plane modeling exhibition and competition in the airport of Nor Hachn every year, where participate people from different cities of the Armenia, from the age 11. The start of 2005 was devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Great Victory. The general sponsor of this competition was Arminco and the subsidiary was the center of battle – defending.
On 28th of May, 2005, unprecedented national cultural fete i.e. United Shurjpar Round dance) will take place on the foot of the four peaked mountains of Aragats. It’ll be carried out on the highways of the Aragats the length of which is 163 km and it passes through the regions like Aragatsotn and Shirak including 160 communities where more than 160 000 people will realize the Round dance. Under our traditional music the dance begins at exactly 15:00 o’clock and lasts 15 minutes.
The ceremony will be casted from the helicopters. That Round dance will be national renaissance and united ceremony turning into the national great fete. The idea of this ceremony cherishes national liking and it has found a response both in Armenia and in Diaspora. Numerous foreigners have expressed their great whish to join the dance. The tree planting has being realized since April along the highway of the Round dance and in the evening of 27th May, the great fire-works from the tops of the mountain will light up the sky and the earth symbolizing the icon-lamp of the saint Gregory of Illuminator.
We are very glad to inform our readers that the author of the Monument commemorating the Armenian Genocide, which will be constructed in Glendale, USA, is the Abovyan former citizen Sevak Petrosian.
He is rather talented, vivid and bright personality who left great memories in the hearts of the people who knows him. He has graduated from the Yerevan State Polytechnic Institute, the department of architecture and has worked with the prominent architects of Yerevan. At the years of living in Abovyan city he has founded Kaputan national dancing club and let the Armenian society get to know the national dances of the Urmia region. Now he is living in Glendale and has founded the Nextep Design Architectural Studio.
From Armenia one more designer had it’s participation in the activities and works of this project, the course-mate of Sevak, designer and architect Araik Avetian…

Hungarian radio choir sing a Lord’s Prayer in Armenian

On April the 22nd in the evening, the Abovyan musical hall was overcrowded. Here acted the national choir of Hungarian radio with the head of Kalman Strausz.
The program was composed of high responsibility. The concert was begun with Lord’s Prayer which was presented with pure, sounding and beautiful Armenian language exciting everyone up to tears. It was unique commemoration directed to the Armenian nation, to the audience.
The works of classical and contemporary Hungarian composers – Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály and etc were presented to the Abovyan society .
They will have concert again on April 24th, 15:00 in the Opera hall.

Today the world speaks out about the Armenian genocide. And many events and inspiring matinees are organized nearly everywhere which keep our memories and straggling soul vigilant and awake.
In 1980, on October the 2nd, at the 7-8 o’clock AM (I don’t know exactly the time), in Abovyan city I was born...and in the same day my name was baptized, which is more my grandfathers than mine – Ararat Kharatyan. So within one year I was taken to the kinder garden with brawl and bully, then I studied for 8 years in # 10 school and as I was “smart” pupil I was moved to the # 5 school and I finished my 10 grade with “honor and glory”. As from the age of 14 he has been working in the Abovyan Dramatic Theatre and crazy of this sphere, he has decided to become an actor. So at once he has applied for the Yerevan StateUniversity of Theatre and Cinema: “I couldn’t pass the exams as the commission thought I had poor artistic abilities. But I didn’t loose my hope, so I applied for the second time and entered (hurrah) the faculty of dramatic theatre and film. I studied in the studio of Zaven Tatinyanc. The latest one baptized me an actor”.
